About the SquadronEdit
1312 (Southend on Sea) Squadron is a squadron of the Air Training Corps. Located at London Southend Airport they are the largest squadron in Essex.Each year the squadron takes part in many activities including Flying, Gliding, Target Shooting, Adventure Training, Team Building, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, the Squadron Band and various sports like Football, Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming. The cadets also get the opportunity to spend a week on an RAF base in the UK as well as attend adventure training and leadership camps. They can even study towards a BTEC in Aviation Studies and can also work towards a First Diploma in Public Services
The squadron is part of Essex Wing along with many other squadrons. The Squadron Leader (commanding officer) is supported by many staff including, 3 Flying Officers 1 Pilot Officer, 1 Squadron Warrant Officer, 1 Warrant Officer, 2 Adult Flight Sergeants, 1 Adult Sergeants, many Civilian Instructors, the squadron padre and a civillian committee.
The squadron parades between 19:00 to 21:30 every Friday night and 09.45 to 12.30 on Sunday mornings in the premises.
