Cadet Junior Corporal is a rank used only in the Combined Cadet Force (RAF Section), where it precedes Cadet Corporal in the Rank Structure. It is often referred to as Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) in many sections.
The Junior Corporal rank was contrived as an equivalent to the Lance Corporal rank used by the Army Cadet Force and by the Combined Cadet Force (Army Section), there is no equivalent rank in the Air Training Corps.
Promotion to this rank is at the Commanding Officer's discretion and can be awarded to any enrolled cadet, regardless of age or classification. However, Squadron Commanders are entitled to impose a minimum age and/or classification requirements on promotion to this rank for their squadron only.
